A person who spiked candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and 10.

The accused was arrested after eight minors and one adult became sick at the location in the summer month.

The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

However, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was held in detention before a subsequent court date on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, detailed Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he managed.

Ruben played a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".

She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously become sick the following morning.

She explained the defendant had been able to explain this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The prosecutor continued: "This year his stepson had worries about the activities, for good reason.

"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated materials including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were found, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She stated Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.

"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.

Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the law enforcement a second time.

She explained the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a area of five minors.
